Special Delivery
I was so excited to see the courier pull up in front of my home one day last week. I knew that he was carrying a very special package and I couldn’t wait to open it. Shortly after I launched this blog, I decided that I wanted to have a calling card that I could give to people to introduce them to L’Abeille Française – The French Bee – in person. So I reached out to my brand designer Julia of Julabrand Design Co. and asked her for help with this. Not only is Julia my beautiful niece, she is also a talented and experienced graphic designer, having trained at the prestigious OCAD University in Toronto and worked for several design agencies including Design House.
A couple of months earlier, Julia had applied her creative talents to developing my brand. I told her of my desire to share my food and travel adventures, with a particular focus on all things French, as well as my idea for a blog name. From that she developed a concept board, pulling inspiration from images of both bees and Paris. Within a couple of weeks she presented me with several different brand and logo options. They were all so wonderful but one in particular popped out at me. We focused on that one and tweaked it a bit to ensure that l’abeille – the bee – was focal.
The result was wonderful and it was obvious to me that Julia had a lot of fun with this project. So when I asked her to design a calling card for me, I was excited to see what she would come up with. Once again she took a collaborative approach, presenting me with several options and incorporating my feedback to come up with the final design. With that agreed, it was time to choose a printer. We looked at several options and landed on MOO. I had considered a less expensive supplier however, as Julia reminded me: you get what you pay for. So MOO it was. And I am delighted with the result. People love the square shape of the card and the finish on the paper, not to mention the design. I am tickled pink to unveil this beautiful and playful calling card to you. I’d love to hear what you think about it. Oh, and if you’re considering having cards printed, just click on this link to receive 20% off your first order: MOO. And Julabrand‘s prices – they are already a great value so no further discount needed there!
